We need to reassess Indian involvement in Afghanistan and our (U.S.) policies towards India Resolving the Kashmir dispute would dramatically improve the situation. What can be said in nutshell is that a balance needs to be struck between economic and security benefits to the West of closer ties to India and security threats to stemming from Islamist militancy in Pakistan.
