1. Answer the following (each answer should be in approximately 100 words): (Marks 2×10=20)
a. Constitutional Developments during the Tudor Period
b. The British Common Law
c. Difference between the King and the Crown
d. Reasons for adoption of bicameralism in U.S.A. Constitution
e. Implied powers of President of USA
f. The Concept of filibustering
g. Principle of Senatorial Courtesy
h. The Concept of Landsgemeinde
i. Collegial or Plural Executive in Switzerland
j. Renunciation of war as a feature Japanese Constitution
2. "As an unwritten constitution, the Constitution of United Kingdom has grown and evolved
with the growth of political institutions over a period of time." In the light of the above
statement, critically examine the growth of the British Constitutional System under different
phases of history. (Marks 10)
3. Discuss the powers and position of Prime Minister of United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland. (Marks 10)
4. "The President of USA is considered to be the most powerful person in the world so much so
that he can hold the destiny of the world in the hollow of his hands. He may not have the
power to declare war; but he can create a war like situation wherein the Congress could be
forced to declare a war."
Substantiate the above statement in the light of overwhelming powers enjoyed by the US
President and the constraints under which he works. (Marks 10)
5. Critically examine the working of the institutions of direct democracy in Switzerland and
suggest if they could be replicated in India for improving the quality of governance in our
country. (Marks 10)
6. Discuss the salient features of the Constitution of Japan adopted on 3rd May 1947.
