1. Write short notes on the following:- (Marks
a. Among the 8 GATT negotiating rounds from 1947 to 1994, identify and discuss the rounds relating to the non-tariff measures.
b. Decision-making in WTO is a consensus-based procedure. Argue for or against this statement.
c. Most-Favored-Nation Concept is a misnomer. Argue for or against with reasons and examples.
2. Write short notes on the following:- (Marks
a. What are the major differences among the two non-discrimination principles under WTO in respect of their scope and applicability on trade measures?
b. If a comparison of GATT 1947 and World Trade Organization is done, list out the major differences between the two.
c. Discuss the scope of WTO as laid down in the agreement establishing the World Trade Organization.
3. Write short notes on the following:- (Marks
a. What are the functions of the General Council in the WTO?
b. Article III of GATT 1994 lays the two situations when Members can be exempted from National Treatment Obligations under GATT. Identify and discuss these exemptions.
c. Explain the concept of Grandfather Rights under GATT 1947.
