The Ministry of Human Resource Development has taken various steps to facilitate the construction of toilets within the time frame. Funds were made available to States/(union territory) Under SSA and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan for taking up the programmes. The social cost of these death as per Planning Commission is about of our GDP. Considering the gravity of the situation the government is taking steps to reduce the high level of accident deaths and injuries through improved safety measures and traffic management.
