1. Discuss the close relations between art design and culture, with specific examples.
2. Pick any contemporary public building in your city and discuss its merit as a reflection of the society.
3. Taking at least two distinct cultures from history as examples show cross-cultural similarities in pre-industrial society.
4. Write-short notes on any two of the following:
Vernacular architecture
Importance of water as a cause of origin of settlements
Role of the rich and powerful in sustainable built forms
5. Taking the example of Chinese civilization, show, how through architecture, the king attempted to establish his image of possessing cosmic powers in addition to royal powers.
6. Using appropriate examples of vernacular architecture from two different climatic zones in India, show how it is a product of local material and climate.
7. A "good" design for a building IS inherently a sustainable one. Comment.
