Answer must written in the medium specified in the admission Certificate issued to you, which must be stated clearly on the cover of the answer-book in the space provided for the purpose. No marks will be given for the answer written in an medium other than that specified in the admission Certificate.
Candidates should attempt Question Nos. and 5 which are compulsory, and any three of the reamining questions selecting at least one question from each Section.
All questions carry equal marks.

1. Write short notes with a sociological perspective on the following in not more than 200 words each: 3×20=60

The Parsi community and its contribution to Indian society.
2. Comment criticall on each of the following in about 200 words 3×20=60
The heterogenic features that influenced Indian tradition according to Yogendra Singh.
Linkages between Partriarchy and honour killings
Dumont's concept of homohierachicus.
3. With reference to their understanding of the Indian village, compare the perspectives of M.N. Srinivas and S.C. Dube. 30
Critically assess the forms in which untouchability continues to be practised. 30
Discuss the inter-relationships between caste, class and power. 30
How far is the structural functional perspective helpful in understanding change in contemporary Indian society 30
