2.
Write a letter to the editor of an English Daily raising concerns over the insanitary conditions prevailing in the state capital.

3.
Write a precis ofthe following passage and add a suitable title to it. Man is a queer bundle of good and bad qualities. He has in him not only the higher qualities of charity, kindness, and sympathy, but also evil tendencies like hatred, jealousy, malevolence, and anger. He can elevate the nobler side of his character, only by keeping his lower instincts under control. If the latter gets the upper hand, he is degraded to the level of a brute. Among the animal qualities; anger plays a very important part in debasing human nature. When it gets hold of us, we forget the distinction between good and evil, right and wrong. We do not hesitate to commit a crime from which we, in our cooler moments, would have kept off. For the time being it upsets our mental balance and renders us unable to judge things properly. Thus anger is capable of doing mischief not only to him who is possessed by it, but also to others. It stands in the way of material prosperity, perhaps, more seriously than anything else. A man, in order to attain success in life must have an even temper. Wealth and prosperity depend to a great extent upon the hearty cooperation of friends, colleagues, servants, neighbours, and sometimes even of strangers. We must always try to enlist their love and sympathy by cordial behaviour. A man whose temper is easily ruffled not only fails to make new friends, but also loses old ones. It is vain to expect that every person will be to one's liking. Only a foolish and shallow man will allow himself to be a prey to anger. He is like a sheaf of dry straws that the slightest spark would set on fire. On the other hand, an intelligent and sober man is like a rock that even the severest storm will never move. Nevertheless, the righteous indignation a man shows in defence of a good cause or in protesting against wrong or oppression cannot be blamed. It is necessary to preserve one's self-respect. The man who fails to do that in his dealings with others and has not the courage to protest against an insult, is a coward and is rightly looked down upon, often with contempt.
