important for a database to possess. Describe different levels of database architecture.
2. Discuss the meaning of file organization and the implications of access method on it. Describe
different file access methods.
3. Define database and Database Management Systems (DBMS). Discuss the needs and objectives
of DBMS. Describe architecture of DBMS.
4. What do you understand by 'Information Retrieval' Identify the various processes involved in
information retrieval.

performed in any one of such components and discuss to what extent the job may be performed
through computer
6. Describe the features of any two library management software of Indian origin.

8. Discuss the importance of news alerting service for different user groups. Describe different
sources for news based services in internet environment.
9. What do you understand by digital reference service Discuss the advantages and disadvantages
of two of its broad categories. Give two examples of each category.
10. What is the need of evaluation of Internet resources Describe the generic criteria for evaluation.
