1. Define Database Management System. Discuss all the components of a Database
Management System.
2. Draw an ER diagram for University Admission system. Clearly indicate the entities,
attributes, relationship and the key constraints.
3. Discuss the advantages of using Database management system over traditional file system.
4. What is Normalisation? Explain the concept of functional dependency with an example.
Discuss the difference between 2NF and 3NF.
5. Describe the function and role of Database Administrator in DBMS.
6. What is multivalued dependency? Discuss 4NF with an example.
7. Describe generalisation, aggregation and specialization, with the help of a suitable
example. How these concepts are represented in an E-R diagram? Explain.
8. What is relational algebra? Explain the Relational Algebraic operations. Also give an
example for each.
9. Discuss the application areas of DBMS? Give some suitable examples.
