11. Southern Bank Limited operates in three southern states
of India. Its principal functions include operating
customers' saving, current, and fixed accounts. It
advances loans to individuals and organizations in the

form of secured medium-term loans to business
organizations, loans to individuals for buying consumer
durables, and overdraft facilities to selected
organizations. Besides, it has invested certain funds in
Government Securities. The operations of the bank are
conducted through three regional offices and 110
branches. The bank presently has manual information
systems. It now wants to convert these systems into wellintegrated
computer-based information systems. For this
purpose, the bank wants to identify its subsystems.
Question
Suppose that you are required to advise the bank on the
matter. How will you advise the bank? You can make
your assumptions about the functioning of banking
system.
