Like our historiography our interrelations too are well-founded being part of our multilingualism they are quite comprehensive. As a principal mode of 'intermediacy' if we take a stock of the translations from one Indian language into another, we will have an idea of the extent of these interrelations. Bankim, for instance, has been translated into a good many Indian languages and has thus exerted a primary influence on the nascent novel in them. This adds an extra dimension to our interrelations, for we have not only influenced one another but have carried western influence to one another.
