Section-A

1. Write about the following. (All the five questions are compulsory)
a. Autoclave
b. Mode of transmission of nosocomial infection
c. Prophylaxis against hepatitis B virus
d. High level disinfectants
e. Anti biotic policy
2. Attempt any one. Both questions carry equal marks.

a. Write in detail about the etiology, pathogenesis and laboratory diagnosis of ventilator associated pneumonia. [15]

b. Describe various disinfection techniques used in the hospital mention their mechanism of action and uses. How will you check the efficacy of disinfectants? [15]

d. Moist heat sterilization below 100o C.

a. Describe physical agents of sterilization. Write elaborate notes on role of dry heat in sterilization. [15]

b. Enumerate various diseases transmitted by feco-oral route. Write in detail about the pathogenesis and prophylaxis of hepatitis A virus infection. [15]
