1. Explain about main frame and desktop systems.
2. Describe the different classification of system calls.

4. Explain about Round robin scheduling algorithm with suitable example.
5. What is process control block? Describe various components of PCB.
6. Explain the classic problems of synchronization.
7. What is the cause of thrashing? How it occurs and explain different methods to
prevent from thrashing?
8. What is directory? Explain about directory structure.

9. Briefly describe how the computer system organization and major operating system
components are used in a variety of computing environments.

resources among several processes in a deadlock and starvation free manner.

15. Compute page fault ratio. The pages referenced are 5 and 7
(12 pages). The job is allowed 3 blocks. Compare LRU and FIFO page replacement
schemes.
