1. The National Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (NIEST) was established in 2014 (March) as an institute of national importance, located at Nagpur. The former name of the institute was Civil Engineering College of India, established in 1856. NIEST functions through Senate, Governing Board and Management Council.
The institute has three departments-Engineering Technology, Basic Applied Research and Social Management Sciences. The Engineering Technology covers 10 areas such as aerospace, architecture, computer science etc. The areas which are covered by Basic Applied Research dept. are chemistry, physics, earth science and mathematics. The Social Management sciences department covers the areas of humanities social sciences.
The Institute has 9 schools like School of Information Technology, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Management Sciences etc.The Institute offers:
Undergraduate Programmes,
Post Graduate Programme,
Ph.D. Programme,
Continuing Education Programme and
Quality Improvement Programme.
Apart from the departments and Schools, the NIEST functions through following centres
Computer Center
Green Energy Center
The Institute has a well equipped automated library covering3000 sq. meter areas which is kept open from 8 A.M to 8 P.M. At present the library has a total collection of:
Books -1,32,000 volumes
Bound volume of periodicals 000
Reports/standards -66,203
Videos -105
Films -4,605
Current Journals subscribed -1056 the library offers following services

Photocopying
Internet search
