Note: This paper is divided into two sections, A and B. You should attempt five questions in all, choosing at least two from each section. All questions carry equal marks.
SECTION A
1. What parameters should be observed in the choice of characters for short stories Discuss each of them in detail. 20
2. Stories for children should not only be a source of entertainment but should also transmit moral and social values. Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer. 20
3. There is no room for long dialogues in detective stories. Do you agree with this statement? Give a reasoned answer. 20
4. What do you mean by an 'open-ended' narrative Substantiate your answer with examples from some stories that you have read. 20
5. Write short notes on any two of the following: 2xlO=20

6. Write a dialogue dramatizing an interaction between a mother urging her daughter not to go out alone in the evening, and the daughter who is adamant to go out with her friends. 20
7. Write a short story for adult readers about an anti-hero. (Remember, an anti-hero is one who has never done anything great, is not handsome or rich, but can still arouse interest). 20
8. You have to write a short story on a very humorous incident that you have witnessed. What narrative style would you adopt? Write the opening paragraphs or of this story. Do not write the whole story. 20
9. Write a short story for children on anyone of the following ideas 20
A broken tooth
A secret that everyone knows
Leaving footprints
10. Write the ending of a short story (last 3 paragraphs) which revolves around a husband asking his wife for a divorce and the wife who is not willing to do so. 20
