Answer any two of the following questions in about 500 words each. Each question carries 20 marks. 2x20=40
1. Discuss the study of comparative politics against the backdrop of globalisation.
2. What do you understand by Neo-liberalism Explain.
3. Examine the social bases of national movements in the 19th and the 20th centuries.
4. Write an essay on colonialism in Africa and the scramble for it.
SECTION II
Answer any four of the following questions in about 250 words each. Each question carries 12 marks. 4x12=48
5. Discuss Max Weber's approach to understanding social structures.
6. Describe the salient features of the Chinese strategy of development.
7. What do you mean by a secular regime Describe its salient features.
8. Write a note on contemporary classification of political regimes.
9. Compare and contrast democracy with republicanism.
10. Examine the reasons for the decline of the legislature as an organ of the government.
11. Enumerate the shortcomings of the majoritariari electoral system.
12. Describe some of the different types of pressure groups.
