The students have to attempt any two questions in about 600 words each from Section any four questions in about 250 words each from Section 11 and any two short notes in about 100 words each from Section Ill. The marks are mentioned against each question.

2. Which of the political and economic reforms contributed towards the modernisation of Japan 20
3. Why and how did the foreign powers intervene in China in the second half of the 19th century? 20
4. What led to the failure of political parties and the rise of militarism in Japan 20

6. What was the impact of the Russo-Japanese War? 12
7. Discuss the relationship between religion and peasant revolts in China. 12
