2. Give the phonetic symbols for the following description of the English consonants: One is done for you.
voiced bilabial plosive. voiced alveolar plosive
(ii) voiceless bilabial plosive
(iii) voiceless bilabial nasal
voiced labiodental fricative
voiced affricate
Divide the following words into their constituent morphemes
sheepishly
(ii) dedication
(iii) beautifully

Write short notes on any two of the following:
Types of negation
(ii) Basic sentence patterns
(iii) Subject verb agreement
(iv) Conversion as a morphological device Inflectional and derivational morphology
3. Explain with examples the difference between restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses.
OR
Write a note on the different types of questions, giving examples.
Supply question tags to each of the following sentences:
She has got a new dress,
(ii) You were born in Singapore,
(iii) Let's go for a walk,
(iv) She is taller than her sister, The weather is quite pleasant,
Frame wh-question corresponding to the bold italicized part in the following sentences: My father gave me this book.
(ii) I visited Lucknow last year.
(iii) My brother has gone abroad.
(iv) She did not get good marks because she didn't work hard. I have five hundred rupees in my pocket.
4. Explain the difference between finite and non-finite verbs, give examples.
Rewrite the following sentences using the appropriate form of the verb given in brackets
He (work) in this office since 2005.
I to Kerala last year.
(iii) I (have) three pairs of jeans.
She (visit) her sister very frequently.
When I reached the station, the train (left).
Fill in the blanks in the following sentences with suitable words

5. Bring out the difference between complex and compound sentences. Give five examples of each type.

(rewrite in the passive voice)
(iii) Go straight. You will find the place.
(Combine into a complex sentence using adverb clause of condition)
(iv) I can never forget your kindness.
(rewrite as an interrogative sentence) Cotton is not as durable as polyster.
