Applications are invited from Indian nationals to work as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

Title of the Research Project: Development of a Thermal Model based Real-time Tool Wear Monitoring and Compensation System for Micro-EDM Processes

Brief description of the Project: The main objectives are: -

To develop a NI LABVIEW based virtual Pulse Discriminating (PD) system for actual Micro-EDM Processes.

To develop a thermal model based strategy for tool wear monitoring and compensation in the processes.

Duration: 3 years or till the completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

Position: 1

Qualifications:

1). B.Tech in Mechanical and M.Tech in Mechanical/instrumentation/mechatronics Engineering/Technology. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA out of 10 in their Master's.

Or

2). Exceptional candidates having B.Tech/B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 65% marks or 7 CGPA out of 10 and valid GATE score can apply for the position.

Note: Candidate having basic knowledge of CNC based non-conventional manufacturing process and virtual instrumentation through LabVIEW will be given preference.

Emoluments: As per DST India rules. I and II year- Rs 25000/- pm + 10% HRA (or a hostel accommodation)

III year- Rs 28000/- pm +10% HRA (or a hostel accommodation)

General Terms and Conditions:

  1. 1. The position is temporary which will be renewed every year subject to satisfactory performance. Candidate selected for this position can apply for the regular PhD program provided he/she qualifies the eligibility criterion for PhD program at IIT Ropar.

  2. 2. Original documents of mark sheet/degrees/certificates/age proof and other testimonials must be presented at the time of interview.

  3. 3. No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview.
