Admission Notice for PhD Programme in Applied Science

January to July,2018 Session

Online applications are invited from motivated and qualified students for admission to the PhD programme at IIIT Allahabad starting from January/July. Students applying for Ph.D. are requested to see the faculty profile at https://www.iiita.ac.in/academics/department/ to check the research interests of the faculties.

The applicants are encouraged to contact the faculties with whom the applicant is interested to do research and discuss the research proposal. The applicant needs to fill the names his/her probable Ph.D Supervisors (more than one option allowed).

Research Scholars to take up the additional assignment of Tutor-cum-Research Assistant Positions at IIIT Allahabad, will be compensated additionally with an additional fellowship upto Rs.10,000/- per month over and above their scholarship.

Sciences

Bio-Informatics and Bio-Medical Engineering Computational Structural Proteomics, Computer Aided Drug Design, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Sequencing Technologies and System Biology, Biological Database Management System, High Performance Computing, Bioelectrics, Machine Learning, Medical Instrumentation, Ultrasonic/Photoacosutic Imaging and Tissue Characterization, System and Image Processing, BioMEMs and Nanotechnology, Computational Medical Sciences, Health Information Systems.

i. A masters degree in Science / Life Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks / 6.5 CGPI (55% marks / 5.5 CGPI for SC/ST).
ii. A masters degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks / 6.5 CGPI (55% marks / 5.5 CGPI for SC/ST).
iii. The candidate must have qualified one of following appropriate national tests: GATE / CSIRNET / UGCNET / DBT/ICMR / JEST / NBHM / INSPIRE

Or

A Bachelors degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 75% marks/ 8.0 CGPI (70% marks/7.5 CGPI for SC/ST)

MHRD fellowship ( GO F .No. 17-2/2014-TS.I. ) will only be provided to the scholars on basis of GATE scores above the prescribed cut-off level.

Mathematics Combinatorial Topology, Commutative Algebra, Functional Analysis

Physics Experimental and Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Photonics and Spectroscopy, Cosmology and General Relativity, Computational Astrophysics, Modeling and Simulations, Theoretical High Energy Physics. Photonic Crystals, Photonic band gap materials & Metamaterials

(students may be allowed to do research in other areas of information technology provided a faculty from the department / institute is willing to supervise the student in the specific area)

1) In addition to the general eligibility criteria, candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by different departments in the PhD information brochure.
2) Mode of the application is online. The Application fee is Rs.500/-for General/OBC and Rs.250/-for

SC/ST candidates.

3) Institute Fellowship :( subject to approval by the Senate).
(i) If a selected PhD Scholar in Applied Science who does not have a GATE Score above a prescribed cut off level. An institute fellowship maybe provided to such students on availability.
(ii) Such scholars may appear for GATE whichever is relevant; on successful clearance of these national exams above the prescribed cut off level, they will be eligible for the MHRD Fellowship as per the GO F .No. 17-2/2014-TS.I.
(iii) Such PhD Scholars can also take up additional assignment of Tutor-cum-Research Assistant Positions at IIIT Allahabad and will be compensated additionally with an additional fellowship upto Rs.10, 000/- per month over and above their scholarship.
(iv) If a selected PhD Scholar in IT/ECE who does not have a GATE Score above a prescribed cut off level but have cleared UGC-NET (JRF)/CSIR-NET (JRF) ,they may avail their own scholarship as provided by UGC/CSIR
