Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow / Project Assistant-II

NABI Computational Biology/Bioinformatics Laboratory has the high performance computing infrastructure which is a gateway for NABI scientists to use computational methods and databases to deepen and integrate their research. We are specifically trying to identify novel genes and pathways through transcriptome assembly and annotation, digital expression profiling, genome mapping and data-mining, gene regulatory network reconstruction and identification of non-synonymous mutations. Successful candidate will get opportunity to get themselves trained to use TFLOP scale computing cluster (HPC) for solving important biological questions. To accelerate high quality research, applications are invited from motivated candidates with high level of creativity, innovative research ideas and communication skills and drive for carrying out research in the following research areas:

Project Title (multiple positions):

Development of advanced algorithms, databases, tools and pipeline for data mining including genome assembly in crop genome, transcriptome and epigenome.

Essential qualification:

According to the DST (DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014) Post Graduate degree in basic science(M.Sc) in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Systems Biology/Information Technology with NET or Graduate degree in professional course with NET or Post Graduate Degree (M.Tech) in professional course in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Systems Biology/Information Technology.

Desirable qualification/skills:

  1. Should be proficient in programming in Perl/Python/R language etc.

  2. Should have knowledge and skills for data mining in biological sequence database . sequence analysis tools/packages, NGS Analysis .

  3. Should have knowledge and skills to work in linux environment and write shell scripts.

Application and selection process:

The selected candidate will be encouraged for the Ph.D. program at the neighbouring Institute/University. The JRFs will be hired as per the emoluments guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014) as per their own fellowship support or a fellowship from NABI. Project Assistant-II will be hired as per DST Guidelines no. C-30011/1/2007-IFD dated 21st July, 2008. Candidates age shall not exceed more than 28 years on the last date i.e 30.05.2017. Age relaxatation will be given as per Govt. of India norms. NABI may or may not select candidates against one or more of the above areas of research, depending upon the suitability of the candidate to carry out high quality research. Candidates are required to submit their applications form duly filled (in the prescribed format that can be downloaded from NABI website, www.nabi.res.in) should be sent to Administrative officer, National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute, Knowledge City, Sector-81, Mohali so as to reach latest by 30.05.2017 before 5:30 pm. NABI may or may not select candidates against one or more of the above areas of research, depending upon the suitability of the candidate to carry out high quality research.
