The above walk-in-interview will be held in the Placement Cell/IQAC Hall, AdministrativeBlock, Goa University, Taleigao plateau, Goa.

The minimum qualifications for appointment to the post of Assistant professor shall be:

(i) Good Academic record with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale

wherever grading system is followed) at the Master's degree level in a relevant subject

from an lndian University, or an .equivalent degree from an accredited toreign

University. Good academic record shall mean that a candidate has secured at leastsecond class at graduate level, or has secured an average of 50% marks in theprevious three examinations.

(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared theNational Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited bythe UGC like SLET/SET.

(iii) NET/SLECT/SET shall be the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment andappointment of Assistant professors.

(iv) Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC(Minimum standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.d. Degree) Regulation, 200g shall

be exempted from the requirement of the minimu-m '"rigi;iiitt-

NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant pr6ferr"or

(v)

Candidates who were registered for the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme prior to July 11,2009, and have been awarded the Degree under the provisionr 6f the then existing

Ordinances/ Regulations of the lnstitution awarding the degrees shallirlso_ be exempted from the requiiement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions subject to

fulfillment of the following conditions:

(a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only;

(ni fvatuation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners; (.j Open ph.D. viva-voce of the candidate had been conducted; iOl ff.r" candidate has published two research papers from out of his/her Ph.D. work, of which at least one must be in a refereed journal;

(e) The candidate has presented two papers in seminars/conferences based on his/her Ph.D. work;

Fulfillment of conditions at (a) to (e) above are to be certified by the Vice-Chancellor/ Dean (Academic Affairs)/ Dean (University lnstructions)'

(vi) A relaxatio n of 5o/o shall be provided at the graduate and master's level for the dcheduted Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differentlyabled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record

during direct recruitment to teaching positions.

The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned ibou" ar" permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark.

(vii) A relaxation of 5% shall be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September,

1991.

(viii) A relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading sysiem is followed by a recognized university shall also be considered eligible.

(ix) A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) will be required at the Master's level for those recruited as teachers at any level from research institutions and at the entry level of Assistant Professors.

The candidate should have minimum 15 years of domicile (residence certificate) in the state of Goa, knowledge of Konkani (essential) and knowledge of Marathi

(desirable). However, the above requirements may be relaxed in case of non-availability of candidates in any given discipline and not on individual basis with the prior approval of the state government.

ln case candidate from reserved category is not available, candidates from General Category will be considered for shorter period of appointment.

Candidates should register their names in the office of the Assistant Registrar(Teaching), Administrative Office, Goa University half an hour before the scheduled time of the interview.

Application on plain paper addressed to the Registrar, Goa University, bio-data with self-attested copies of documents and certificates pertaining to educational qualification shall be submitted at the time of registration.

Candidate shall produce the original certificates for verification during the interview.
