INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES

Internet of Things (IoT) based devices are the building blocks for future smart cities where a large number of smart connected devices will make citizens lives happier and comfortable. IoT will also have a big role in cyber physical systems and critical infrastructure. IoT devices will be collecting a large amount of data, which in many cases would be highly sensitive and very personal and thus, security and privacy is going to be inherent. There are several issues like control of information, integrity of data, need for better authentication and privacy preserving algorithms, techniques for detection and prevention from different attacks like intrusion, denial of service, phishing etc. Projections for the impact of IoT on the Internet and economy are impressive, with some anticipating as many as 100 billion connected IoT devices and a global economic impact of more than $11 trillion by 2025.

The Short Term Course (STC) on Recent Developments and Challenges in Internet of Things Security (RDCIoTS) intends to focus on advances and challenges in IoT Security but are not limited to:

  • Security and Privacy issues in IoT
  • Fault Tolerance
  • Key Management
  • Malware Detection & Prevention
  • IoT Application Security
  • Information Forensics Issues
  • Cyber Physical Systems Security and Privacy
  • Laboratory Demonstration and Lab Sessions
