Applications are invited online only by `One Time Registration' from qualified candidates for the under mentioned post. The ranked list of candidates finalised by the Commission in pursuance of this notification shall cease to be in force after one year from the date of finalization of the ranked list (as per notification A V(2) 2376/14/GW dated 04.04.2016, Extra Ordinary Gazette dated 15.04.2016). Candidates will be advised from the said list against the vacancies that may be reported to the Commission in writing during the period of currency of the list.

5 Method of appointment : Direct Recruitment

6 Age limit : 18-26. Candidates born between 2.1.1991 and

1.1.1999 (both dates included) only eligible to

apply for this post.

Other Backward Communities, Scheduled caste converts and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age relaxation as provided under sub rule (c) of the Rule 10 of the general rules. Other conditions regarding age relaxation are not applicable to this post.

Women and Physically handicapped person are not eligible to apply for the post in view of the arduous and special nature and responsibilities attached to the post.

Qualifications:

1) Must have passed Plus two or its equivalent examination.

Note: KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 (a) ii is applicable.

Preferential Diploma in Computer Application. 2) Physical Measurements: Must not be less than the following standards.

Note: Physical measurement of the candidates will be taken prior to the test and those who do not satisfy the prescribed Physical standards will not be allowed to participate in the Physical efficiency test under any circumstances.

3) Must have proficiency in swimming.

Note:-The proficiency in Swimming will be tested by a practical test conducted by the Commission. The following are the criteria for the swimming test.

(i) 50m swimming trial to be completed within two minutes and

(ii Two minutes floating ability at the deeper sides of the swimming pool. ) Candidate must qualify both the events to be considered as qualified in the swimming test.

4) Must be certified to posses the visual standards as specified below (without Glasses)

Note: Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified above without glasses. Candidates should produce a Medical Certificate issued by a medical officer not below the rank of Civil Surgeon as to the candidates physique, fitness and capacity for rough outdoor work and also of the visual standards at the time of physical efficiency test.

Note: Details regarding standards of vision should be clearly stated in the Certificate as given above and vague statement such as Vision `Normal' average etc will not be accepted. Specification for each eye should be stated separately against each item. If the specification are not as indicated above, the officers issuing the Certificate should certify whether the candidate has got better standards of vision or worse standards of vision, as the case may be, otherwise the Certificate will not be accepted.

5) Physical efficiency test A physical efficiency test will be conducted by the Commission to assess the physical efficiency of the candidates. Candidates must qualify in at least 5 out of 8 items in the physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of efficiency as noted below.

8 (8) 1500 metres race 5 minutes and 44 seconds Preferential:-Other conditions being equal, the Home Guard Volunteers who have completed a tenure of three years in that organizations and who have satisfactorily undergone training in Fire Fighting during the period of tenure shall be treated as having preferential qualification for direct recruitment to this post.
9 Probation:- Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty after he completes the training and examination will be on probation for a period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
10 Training:-
i) Training for a period of 6 months in the State Fire Service Training School or in any other institution as may be fixed, and pass the examination in the subject prescribed for the course.
ii) After the above training Six months practical training at a Fire Station and a pass in the examination in the subjects prescribed for the course.
Note:
i) A written and practical test will be conducted during the last fortnight of the period of training at the close of training. Those who fail to qualify in either one or both tests shall have their training extended for a further period of one month, at the end of which they shall be tested again in the subjects in which they failed. The Director of Fire & Rescue service shall allow a third chance to pass the course to all fireman recruits who fail at the re-test.
ii) Seniority among recruits, who have qualified in the test conducted by Fire and Rescue Services Academy shall be determined on the basis of effective advice of KPSC and they shall be appointed to service on the basis of seniority list, only after completion of successful training.

11 Bond:-A person appointed by direct recruitment to the post of Fireman shall execute a bond, binding himself to service in the department for a period of 7 years and to pay to Government an amount of Rs. 3000/-in case of failure to serve in the department for the said period.

13 Mode of submitting applications:-

Candidates must register as per ONE TIME REGISTRATION with the official Website of Kerala Public Service Commission www.keralapsc.gov.in before applying for the post. Candidates who have registered can apply by logging on to their profile using their User-ID and password. Candidates must click on the Apply Now button of the respective posts in the Notification Link to applying for a post. The Photograph uploaded should be one taken after 31/12/2010. Name of the candidate and the date of taking photograph should be printed at the bottom portion. The photograph once uploaded meeting all requirements shall valid for 10 years from the date of uploading. There is no change in other instructions regarding the uploading of photographs. No application fee is required. Candidates shall take a printout of the application by clicking the link Registration Card in their profile. Candidates are responsible for the correctness of the personal information and secrecy of password. Before the final submission of the application on the profile candidates must ensure correctness of the information on their profile. They must quote the User-ID for further communication with the Commission. Application submitted is provisional and cannot be deleted or altered after submission. The application will be summarily rejected if noncompliance with the notification is found in due course of processing. Documents to prove qualification, Experience, Community, age etc have to be produced as and when called for.

14 Last date for receipt of applications:

14.06. 2017 Wednesday upto 12 Midnight.

15 If Written Test/OMR Test/On-line Examination is conducted as a part of the selection Admission Tickets for eligible candidates will be made available in their Profile for One Time Registration and the date of downloading will be included in the Examination Calendar. Candidates can download Admission Ticket for 15 days from this date. Candidates who have downloaded the Admission Ticket will alone be permitted to attend the examination.
