Recruitment of Graduate Trainees at E-1 level in Engineering & Geo-Sciences posts through GATE-2017
The Engineering & Geo-Sciences posts through GATE-2017 were notified vide Advt. No. 6/2016 (R&P) on 15th September 2016 in Employment News and ongcindia.com. In the advertisement, it was conveyed that details about number of posts will be announced at the time of inviting the online applications.
Those who qualified GATE-2017 for recruitment to the posts notified in the said advertisement need to apply online for the posts in ONGC. However, they need not pay any registration fee. The brief details of the posts are as under:

Note:
- a) The courses offered by Institutions/ Universities through the regular mode should be approved/ recognized by the necessary statutory bodies for employment to posts and services under the Central Government like Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/UGC/AICTE etc. Candidates who have obtained their qualification through distance learning/ part time mode are also eligible to apply provided their qualification is recognized by the relevant statutory bodies for employment to posts and services of the Central Government.
- b) Calculation of percentage of marks in the qualifying degree shall be as per university/ institution rules.
- c) Wherever CGPA/ OGPA/ CPI/ DGPA or letter grade in degree is awarded, equivalent % of marks should be indicated in the online application as per norms adopted by concerned University/ Institute. Please also obtain a certificate to this effect from the University/ Institute, which shall be required to be submitted at the time of interview. In cases where division/ class and percentage equivalence certificate is not given by the Institute for relative grades (CGPA/OGPA/CPI/DGPA etc.), the equivalence will be established by dividing the candidates relative grade with maximum possible corresponding scale and multiplying the result with 100.
- d) In case there is no mention of specialization in the qualifying degree as required in the Minimum Essential Qualifications above, candidates are to submit a certificate at the time of interview from their institution/ university with a clear mention of their specialization in the qualifying degree.
- e) Qualifications mentioned in the table above are sacrosanct. No equivalent qualifications shall be accepted e.g. AMIE (Mechanical)/ AMIE(Electrical)/ AMIE(Civil) etc. shall not be acceptable as a Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering respectively.

Note:
i) Candidates seeking reservation as SC/ST/OBC, will have to submit at the time of interview, caste certificate, ONLY in the prescribed proforma meant for appointment to posts under the Government of India from the designated authority indicating clearly the candidate caste, the Act/Order under which the caste is recognized as SC/ST/OBC and the Village/Town the candidate is ordinarily a resident of.
ii) Prescribed format of the caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC & PWD for employment in government undertaking is down-loadable from the online application site.
iii) OBC candidates must ensure that they possess the latest Non-Creamy layer certificate issued by Competent Authority for Government of India posts. A certificate containing any variation in the caste name will not be accepted.
iv) OBC claim of a candidate will be determined in relation to the State (or part of the State) to which his/her father originally belongs. A candidate who has migrated from one state to another state should, therefore, produce an OBC Certificate which should have been issued to him/her based on his/her fathers OBC Certificate from the State to which he (father) originally belongs.
v) No change in the community status already indicated by a candidate in his/her online application form for this exercise will ordinarily be allowed.
2. The posts of AEE (Production), AEE (Drilling) and AEE (Cementing) are further classified into the specific roles and candidates possessing the specific qualification can only apply against these role based posts.
3. SELECTION PROCESS:
The selection process will comprise of the following:
- a) GATE 2017 : The desirous and eligible candidates having the essential qualification for the advertised posts should have appeared in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2017 as indicated above in para 1.1. (Essential Qualification & GATE Subject with Code under Eligibility Criteria) and declared qualified by the GATE-2017 authorities.
- b) The GATE-2017 Score in the subject mentioned against the post of ONGC will be considered by ONGC for shortlisting the candidates in the respective discipline for the further selection process of Personal Interview as per the criteria decided by the Management.
- c) The final merit list shall be prepared based on the weightages assigned to various parameters as follows:

- d) In order to be selected, candidates are required to qualify in the GATE-2017 and thereafter again in the interview separately in addition to fulfilling qualification criteria.
- e) In case the total marks for final selection are same, then the candidate who gets more marks in performance (Weightage of GATE-2017 Score + Interview) shall be considered senior and if equal marks are scored in performance then the one older in age shall be considered senior for release of name.
- f) Departmental candidates shall be given first consideration in matters of selection, while other things such as qualification, eligibility and selection criteria etc. remain the same.
- g) Only GATE-2017 Score is valid for the recruitment exercise in ONGC under this advertisement. Score from GATE-2016 or from any previous GATE examination is not valid.
4. HOW TO APPLY
- a) Eligible and interested candidates are required to apply ONLINE ONLY through the link Online application for recruitment of Graduate Trainees (GTs) in Engineering & Geosciences disciples through GATE-2017 on www.ongcindia.com . No other mode, repeat no other mode, of application shall be accepted.
- b) The candidate can access the online application form at www.ongcindia.com .The online registration site will be opened from 1200 hrs. on 12/04/2017 to 1200 hrs. on 27/04/2017.
- c) Candidates can apply for one post only even though they may be eligible for more than one post.
- d) If there is no post for reserved category, candidates belonging to reserved category can still apply for unreserved posts. However, age relaxation will not be extended to them in such cases.
- e) Before registering/submitting their online applications on the website the candidates should possess the following:
i. GATE-2017 Registration ID and Application ID
ii. Valid Mobile number in which the OTP will be sent for completing the registration process
iii. Valid E-mail ID.
iv. Scanned copy of recent passport size color photograph of the candidate with white background containing signature of the candidate in a small white sheet pasted just below the photograph (Not more than 70 KB size)
- f) No changes shall be permitted once the candidate has saved and submitted the online application after the last date of application.
- g) All correspondence with the registered candidates shall be done through the registered E-mail ID only. The candidates are required to keep the registered E-mail ID active at least for one year, as also the Mobile Number used for receiving OTP.
- h) The candidates shortlisted for interview are required to upload the scanned copies of certificates at online application site for downloading the Interview Call Letter.
- i) All information regarding candidates shortlisted for interviews, uploading the scanned certificates etc. shall be available on the website of ONGC-www.ongcindia.com. No separate Interview Call Letters shall be sent to the candidates by post.
- j) The sole responsibility of uploading the scanned copies of certificates and downloading and printing of Interview call letter,offer of appointment etc. shall be that of the candidate.

6. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
(a) All applicants must fulfill the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying. No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained.
(b) Applicants are required to apply online only. No manual/ paper application will be entertained.
(c) Screening and selection will be based on the details provided by the candidate; hence it is necessary that applicants should furnish only accurate, full and correct information. Furnishing of wrong / false information will be a disqualification and ONGC will NOT be responsible for any consequence of furnishing of such wrong/false information.
(d) Candidates should have the relevant documents like percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, GATE Score card, Email ID and Mobile readily available with them before they commence the ONLINE application process. This information will be required at the time of filling-in the ONLINE application.
(e) Candidature of the registered applicants is liable to be rejected at any stage of recruitment process or after recruitment or joining if any information provided by the candidate is found false or is not found in conformity with eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement.
(f) Requests for change of mailing address/ category / discipline as declared in the online application, will not be entertained.
(g) Candidates should retain the copy of their ONGC Registration Slip and Interview Call letter for future reference.
(h) Candidates in employment of Public Sector undertaking/ Govt. service will mandatorily be required to produce No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.
(i) ONGC departmental candidates must ensure filling their own CPF Number of ONGC in the appropriate field in the online form, failing which they shall not, repeat SHALL NOT, be screened/ considered as departmental candidates from ONGC.
(j) If more than one application is received from a candidate, most recent/latest (current) application will be considered as final and previous application will be considered as null and void.
(k) Court of Jurisdiction for any dispute will be New Delhi.
(l) The candidates applying for the Graduate Trainees (GT) recruitment should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for the post against which they apply. Their admission at all the stages of selection process will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of unique ID for online application/ interview call letter to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by ONGC. ONGC takes up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has been shortlisted for Interview.
(m) Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their passing the Companys Medical Examination as per standards laid down under ONGCs Medical Examination of Employees Rules, 1996. The physically challenged persons shall not be subjected to usual medical examination by the Appointing Authority immediately after appointment, but their appointment shall be based on the report of Medical Board attached to the Vocational Rehabilitation Centers for physically challenged persons or on the report of the Medical Board attached to the Special Employment Exchange for physically challenged persons. In case this is not possible, the medical examination may be done by ONGCs Medical Board. |
