Advertisement for a JRF position in an ISRO funded research project

Applicationsare invited fora JuniorResearch Fellow (JRF) to workin an ISRO funded project titled UVGuided Study ofBlue Straggler Stars in Open Clusters and Galactic Fields with Dr. KausharVaidya of Department of Physics, BITS, Pilani, Pilani campus.

Project

The successful JRF candidate will pursue research in the field of UVAstronomy. In particular, the candidate will workwith the UVdata of the ASTROSAT satellite to studyBlue StragglerStarsof open clustersand galacticfields. The project will also involve working with photometricand spectroscopicoptical data to investigate the propertiesof Blue StragglerStars.

Essential Qualification

M.Sc. in Physicswith minimum60% marks/ 6.0 CGPA. It isexpected that the candidate hasa sound mathematical background and good academicrecords. Some experience in coding and knowledge of programming languagessuch asC/C++ and Python will be considered an asset.

Fellowship

Rs. 25,000/permonth + HRAasperthe Institute norms(ForNET/GATEqualified candidate) Rs. 21,700/permonth + HRAasperthe Institute norms (Forothers)
