WALK IN INTERVIEW FOR ADHOC ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Mumbai Campus

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which was established in 1936 is a Deemed University fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. The TISS offers 50 Master's Degree Programmes in a range of Socially relevant interdisciplinary of Social Work, Social Sciences, Health, Management, Labour Studies, Habitat Studies and Rural Development from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses. It has a strong M.Phil/Ph.D programme. A high degree of freedom and autonomy shape the positive work ethos and creativity in the Institute. The TISS offers a very challenging but fulfilling academic environment and opportunities to scholars committed to creating a just society through education, generation of knowledge and field action.

The Institute invites interested scholars for walk in interview for six positions of Assistant Professors for its schools viz., Jamsetji Tata School of Disaster Studies (2 posts), School of Habitat Studies (2 posts), and School of Human Ecology (2 posts) . The posts will be on contract basis for a period of one semester upto 30th April 2019 and extendable based on the requirement by the Institute.

Date of Interview: Eligible candidate may attend the walk in interview on dates given below and register between 9.30 am and 10.00 am at the Reception, Quadrangle, Main Campus, Mumbai. Only those candidates meeting the minimum required qualifications will be allowed to appear for the walk in interview,

Interview time: - 10.00 am onwards.

How to apply: The eligible candidates are required to attend the walk in interview along with five sets of resume, two colour passport size photograph, one set of self-attested photocopies of relevant certificates in support of the essential qualification & experience and original certificates for verification.

Remunerations : Consolidated Pay @ Rs. 55,000/-p.m. (Pay Band Rs. 15600 39100 ; AGP Rs. 6000/-)

Essential Educational Qualifications:

Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of 'B' in the 7 point scale with letter grades O,A,B,C,D,E and F at the Masters' Degree (or equivalent) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an acredited foreign university. A relaxation of 5% will be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Masters' level for the SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category candidates, and to the Ph.D. Degree holders who have passed their Masters' Degree prior to 19th September 1991. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

Candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.

The school wise desirable qualifications and experience is as given below.

A. Jamsetji Tata School of Disaster Studies (JTSDS) Two Posts

The candidates must have secured 55% and above at the Master's level and those with Ph. D. and at least two years of experience in the field of development or research/ teaching. Those possessing relevant publications and experience in teaching courses in Disaster Management programmes would be preferred. Candidates from inter-disciplinary areas of Environmental and allied Sciences, Disaster Management, International relations, Planning, Architecture, Anthropology etc. are encouraged to apply. Proven capacities to write high quality research proposals to secure national and international funding will be an asset.

B. School of Habitat Studies (SHS) -Two posts One each in the following centres of the school,

i) Centre for Water Policy, Regulation and Governance

The candidates with economics and finance Or alternately candidates with a law background at either bachelors or Masters degree level with 2 years experience in policy or finance linked research will be preferred. The selected incumbent is expected to teach courses linked to finance, economics or law.

ii) Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies

The candidate having Ph D in economics/development studies will be given preference. Working Experience of minimum 2 years in the field of designing and implementing field work and surveys, proposal writing for projects/fund raising, research work in environmental or climate change economics and related issues etc. Strong capability in statistical analysis and methods and basic interdisciplinary appreciation of climate change and sustainability is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a critical appreciation of the current approaches and viewpoints on climate change and related issues, especially on the question of the links between climate change and development.

C. School of Human Ecology (SHE)

Masters' Degree (or equivalent) in Psychology OR M.Phil./Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from RCI recognized institutes and relevant two years field practice or teaching experience and publications.

Please note that the candidate must meet Essential Educational Qualification of Masters degree and NET or Ph. D. and specified work experience.
