The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS) is an autonomous research organization under ESSO/MoES, which has been mandated to excel in understanding the deep internal and surface processes of solid earth, its interactive mechanism with the hydrosphere and atmosphere and to address various scientific issues concerning to the society. NCESS invites online applications from interested, talented and eligible Indian citizens for filling up of 01 (one) regular position each of Manager (F&A), Librarian, Coordinating Officer Grade I, Joint Manager (F&A), Assistant Manager (P&GA) & Coordinator Grade I, 02 (two) regular positions of Junior Executives and 03(Three)regular positions of MTS. The vacancies of Manager (F&A) and Joint Manager (F&A) will be filled on deputation/absorption failing which by direct recruitment.

Job Profile

The position, in addition to accomplishing routine tasks of communication with the discretion they deserve, is also for co-ordination by follow up for completion of given tasks which includes assistance in general office management, meetings; managing calendar and schedule; prioritization of work with due regard to the time-constraints of the officer to whom attached; effective time and communication management; planning, scheduling, handling and supervising itinerary and ensuring smooth intra and inter departmental interaction.

The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum requirements. Mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be interviewed. After a preliminary screening to ensure possession of essential qualifications, NCESS will examine the proficiency of screened-in candidates through a test in the following format:-

Paper I - Dictation-cum-transcription 40 marks

Paper II (Part A) - Computer proficiency - 30 marks

Paper III (Part B) - English/Hindi Communication 20 marks

Paper IV (Part C) - Bilingual competency (English and Hindi) 10 marks

Paper I and Paper II will be practical while the rest would be objective / descriptive or a combination of both. Except in Paper IV candidates will have the option to appear in English or Hindi.

The option should be exercised at the time of submission of application in the column specified for the purpose. No change in option would be allowed later under any circumstances.

All candidates scoring a minimum of 40% separately for each paper with overall 50% will be declared as qualified. Final selection will be based on inter-se merit of the candidates qualified in the written test, assessed through an interview by a duly constituted Selection Committee.

04 Joint Manager F&A (Group A)

Job Profile - Finance & Accounts

Will directly report to the Manager (F&A) and responsible for the work to be executed by the subordinates. Required to handle all matters related to Finance and Accounts Section.

Should have proven ability in handling all financial matters and to motivate, encourage, coordinate and organize team members.

Should be well-versed with the Central Government Rules & Regulations.

Knowledge in any Computerized Accounting Software, Online Payment methods and experience in MS Word/ MS Excel

Broad scope of duty includes supervision and guidance in the Finance & Accounts Section:

Staff Pay Roll processing (Permanent, Research Fellows and Contingent)
All matters relating to Taxation (IT - Salary, IT- Contractors)
To oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, general accounting, scrutiny of supplier bills/contractor bills, correspondence with ministries, departments and other agencies
Manage all Tour and Contingent Advances and settlement of bills.
Matters relating to Children Education Allowance/LTC/Medical Reimbursement.

Job Profile

The position is intended for assisting the group head in communication, file movements, meetings, schedules and smooth intra and inter-departmental interaction, short-hand, typing and data entry.

Selection Process

Job Profile

a. Collection and preliminary analysis of geological samples, preparation of thin sections and assisting in field surveys.
b. Maintenance of chemical laboratory, collection of soil, sediment and water samples and assisting in field surveys.
c. Deployment of field equipment, maintenance of marine instruments and assisting in field surveys
d. Delivery of dak within and outside office/opening and closing of rooms/Upkeep of section/Photocopying/assistance in sorting of mails etc.

General Conditions:

1. The posts carry allowances and benefits as applicable for employees of identical status in Government of India.

3. Relaxation in upper age limit for the disabled, employees of Govt. Organisations, ex-servicemen and Kashmiri Migrants will be as in O.M. No.F.15012/2/2010-ESTT.(D) dated 27.3.2012 of Dept. of Personnel & Training, Government of India. 6. Director, ESSO-NCESS reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process without assigning any reason thereof or modify the number of vacancies to be filled under each category.
7. The names of candidates short-listed for written test/interview will be notified in the NCESS website (http//www.ncess.gov.in). Intimation to this effect will be sent by post and also through the email- id furnished by the candidate.
8. Syllabus will be notified in NCESS website one month prior to the date of written test.
9. Separate applications should be uploaded if the candidates want to apply for more than one post.
10. Canvassing in any form and /or bringing any influence, political or otherwise will be treated as disqualification for the post applied for. No interim correspondence/inquiry will be entertained.
11. The selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India and outside.

a) Manager (F&A): Age limit is 56 years and Experience eight years regular service in PB2+GP Rs.5400 (Pre-revised) in the relevant field or equivalent in the parent department.
b) Joint Manager (F&A): Age limit is 56 years and Experience four years regular service in posts in PB-2+GP Rs.4800 or equivalent in the parent cadre/department.
