ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP (PDF) POSITION

Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites applications from outstanding and enthusiastic researchers for post doctoral position under the joint mentorship of Dr. Ranjana Pathania, Associate Professor and Prof. D.S. Arya, Professor focused on Assessment of Climate Change Induced Variations in Bacterial Diversity and Antibiotic Resistome around Rispana River, Uttarakhand. The prospective candidate is expected to have a strong background in one or more areas within Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Allied Field of Life Sciences. Candidate should be passionate about working on cutting edge research leading to high impact publications and products.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

a) Essential qualifications*

The prospective candidate should have PhD in Molecular Biology/Life sciences/Microbiology with first class in the preceding degree.

b) Desirable qualifications

1- 2 years of experience/specialization in Molecular Biology/ Genetic Engineering/ Applied Microbiology. The prospective candidate should have at least two high impact publications or patents. Basic knowledge of climate change is desired.

*Candidates who have recently submitted their doctoral thesis are also eligible to apply subject to the condition that they will furnish the proof of award of Ph.D. at the time of interview.

Duration and Fellowship amount:

The duration of the fellowship will be of two years extendable for one more year, if necessary. The candidate is expected to join the department as soon as the offer letter has been released. The fellow will receive a consolidated pay as below in addition to the contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum.

First year: Rs. 50,000/- per month

Second year: Rs. 55,000/- per month

(i) All the post doctoral fellows (PDF) will be registered as IIT Roorkee students for availing the facilities of accommodation, hospital, medical insurance scheme, computer center, library, sports, etc.

(ii) The candidates called for presentation/discussion/interview will be paid Bus/II-AC train fare from their place of residence/work and back by the shortest route within India
