National Institute of Technology Manipur, a centrally funded institution is set up to impart quality technical education at various levels of higher learning. It is one of the ten new NITs established and developed as Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament. NIT Manipur started its first session with the three branches of Engineering-Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. The functioning of the institute was started at its temporary Campus at Takyelpat, Imphal under the mentorship of NIT, Agartala. The Institute has acquired 138.2 hectares of land in the lush green areas of Langol, Imphal and started its functioning at its permanent campus since 2014. This Institute now has all five branches of Engineering viz CSE, EEE, ECE, Civil, Mechanical and Basic Sciences and Humanities Department and open courses on B. Tech., M. Tech., M. Sc. and Ph. D.

The workshop aims at bringing the information regarding necessity of the up-to-date information on:

(i) Enhancing the quality of institution for the benefit of its students, teaching and non-teaching staffs, administration, and libraries.

(ii) Awareness on Intellectual Property Rights and Patents.

(iii) Academic and industrial research perspective, and IPR.

(iv) Innovative steps to quality and success.

(v) Protecting and exploring IPRs.

(vi) Way to improve the IP in the country.

(vii) Hands-on training on patent search technique and patent specification drafting.

(viii) Awareness on Plagiarism Safety.

The workshop focuses on following topics:

Intellectual property rights and patents
Academic and industrial research perspective of IPR
Role of IP policy and IP cell
Anatomy of patents and patent claims.
IPR and Science & Technology transfer
Protecting and exploring IPRs.
Hands-on training

SPEAKERS PROFILE:

Mrs. Bindu Sharma (CEO, Origiin IP Solutions LLP): Bindu Sharma is Patent Attorney and a registered Patent Agent at Indian Patent Office. She has been practicing in IPR for the past 10 years and has vast experience with IP audit, formulating IP policies, patent specification drafting, prosecution, copyright, design, trademark and contract law. She has been speaker in several workshops, conferences and has provided several IP sensitization programs to corporate & academic institutions. She has several publications to her credit and has authored Indias first Dictionary on Patent Law and Handbook of IPR.

Mr. Raghu Ram V. (Senior Advisor, Origiin IP Solutions LLP): Raghu Ram specializes in IP commercialization, Technology Transfer and R&D Management. He has over 20 years experience in commercializing intellectual assets and creating value, by transforming intangible intellectual assets into tangible cash flows. Raghu Ram has wide experience in evaluating and understanding a variety of Intellectual Property assets (patents & technologies) in a business context. He has hands-on-experience in executing turnkey projects globally and be responsible to revenue focused licensing project needs. Raghu Ram presently consults many Corporates, Academic and Research Institutions on issues relating to IP Management, IP Audits and Technology Commercialization.

Dr. S. Rama Murthy (Senior Advisor, Origiin IP Solutions LLP): Dr Murthy is former Professor & Head, Knowledge Management, and Center for Emerging Technologies, Jain University and Scientific Advisor at the office of the Controller General of Patents, Trademarks and Designs. He is a PhD from IIT (Chennai) with 25 years of experience in research and development in turbo machinery, tribology and rotor dynamics. He has 5 patents on foil bearings to his credit. He is a Patent specialist with 13 years of experience in prior -art -searching using databases like Micropat, patent mining, and technology landscaping.

Ms. Dharini Dinesh (Training Coordinator, Origiin IP Acadmy LLP): With an engineering graduation in the field of Instrumentation Technology, Dharinis technical degree gives her a strong foundation in construing the clients innovation. She has independently performed various patentability searches in domains like electrical & electronics, mechanical and biomedical engineering. Her ability to articulate the technical specifications of the inventions enables her to be proficient at drafting provisional as well as complete patent specifications. She has largely drafted specifications for software inventions and has been appreciated for the same by her clients.

Dharinis eloquent nature enables her to strategically communicate with leads thereby playing an active role in developing business for Origiins sister concern company, Origiin IP Academy.
