APPOINTMENT OF TWO MEMBERS,

AGRICULTURAL SCIENTISTS RECRUITMENT BOARD (ASRB)

The ASRB is an independent recruiting agency, attached with Department of Agriculture Research & Education (DARE), established with the approval of the Cabinet.

2. It is responsible for recruitment of posts in the Agricultural Research Service, Research Management Positions and to such other posts and services as may be specified by the President of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The Board further carries out promotion cases of ICAR Scientists under the Career Advancement Scheme.

3. A Search-cum-Selection Committee has been appointed by the Ministry/Department for the purpose, as per extant DoPT instructions for preparing a panel of names for selection of two Members in the Pay Level 16 of ` 205400-224400/-.

4. An applicant for the two positions of Members of the Board shall be selected amongst the scientists holding the position of Professor or equivalent in the Pay Level 14 or above of 7th CPC and having at least 20 years of experience. Two Members shall be selected each from the following two groups of disciplines:

(i) Plant Science Group including Crop Sciences and Horticultural Sciences.

(ii) Natural Resource Management, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Education, Social Sciences like Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Statistics.

5. The tenure of the Members of ASRB shall be for a period of 03 years or till attainment of 65 years of age, whichever is earlier. The Members so selected should not retain any lien to their previous organization.

6. The candidates should ideally have the following attributes:-

(i) Ability to communicate and inspire confidence among scientists and administrators.

(ii) Impeccable record of integrity with ability to take a firm stand on principles.

(iii) Capability to look at problems particularly in the field of recruitment with broader scientific perspective and vision.

(iv) Modern and forward looking approach and outlook towards Agricultural Research in the global environment as also in the context of Governments policy.

7. Besides direct applications, nominations are also sought from the Chairman of UGC/UPSC; Secretaries to the Government of India; Director General, CSIR; Chief Secretaries of States/UTs; Vice Chancellors of all the CAUs/ SAUs.
