About iCALL Psychosocial Helpline & the partnership with UNFPA:

iCALL Psychosocial Helpline; a field action project of the School of HumanEcology at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai, provides counselling, support, information and referral to individuals in emotional and psychological distress, over the telephone, email and chat. The helplinecurrently runs six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, from 8 AM to 10PM. Apart from service provision, iCALL engages in various research, capacitybuilding and outreach efforts independently and in partnership with StateGovernments and NGOs across the country.

iCALL, in partnership with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is engaged in a capacity building initiative of health staff posted at health andwellness centers on basic counselling skills in Madhya Pradesh. Governmentof India had initiated Aspirational district program to strengthen health services in most backward districts of the state. The main aim is to improvequality and range of health services offered through public health institutionsfor rural population from these districts. UNFPA is working with the NationalHealth Mission in MP, since last 2 years for developing skills and capacities ofthe counsellors posted at integrated counselling centers and Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics through its implementing partner, TISS. The state government has now, requested UNFPA to extend the scope of work withTISS to include capacity building of these health functionaries identified atHealth and Wellness centers on counselling skills.

iCALL is inviting applications for the post of Mental Health Trainer cum Counsellor in Bhopal at iCALL-Helpline for Psychosocial Counselling, TataInstitute of Social Sciences, Mumbai

Job Profile: The candidate shall report directly to the Programme Coordinator and the Senior Research Officer at iCALL, and shall be responsible for the following

  1. Assist in Knowledge Assessment and identifying age gaps amongstHealth Workers for offering counselling services

  2. Design and deliver training modules and workshops for Health workerson basic counselling skills, mental health and psychosocial well-beingin Madhya Pradesh

  3. Assist with adaptation of e-learning training mechanism for the healthworkers in Madhya Pradesh

  4. Being proactive in carrying out publicity and outreach activities for thepromotion of the Health and Wellness Centers

  5. Offer supervision and create mechanisms for peer supervision of counselling services on ground along with monitoring services provision.

  6. Report to and coordinate with UNFPA and NHM, MP for implementationof the project activities

  7. Assist with administrative and logistical management of activities planned within TISS, for the project activities

  8. Write reports and develop other works of academic writing on the basisof the work undertaken.

Desirous Candidates Must:

  1. Possess a Masters Degree in Counselling/ Clinical Psychology/ SocialWork/ Psychiatric Social Work/Public Health or other allied sciences

  2. Have relevant experience of minimum a year in health counselling or inmedical settings on health and mental health issues

  3. Should be located in Bhopal for the duration of the project

  4. Speak English and Hindi fluently and possess good writing skills inEnglish

  5. Be skilled in the use of computers for the purpose of documentation,data analysis and Supervision

  6. Be willing to commit for a duration at least a year

  7. Have sound knowledge of therapeutic process skills and psychotherapy

  8. Be willing to travel to Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh for the purpose oftrainings and M&E

Selected candidates will have to undergo rigorous training before they startimplementing the project activities. Candidates shall be required to be basedpermanently in Bhopal for the tenure of their contract. Preference shall begiven to candidates based in Bhopal presently.The position is for the initial period of one year, and will be extended depending on performance. The salary provided is 22000 rupees per month.Age limit for candidates is maximum 45 years. Please note that this is a fulltime position.
