Sub: Filling up of Eleven posts of Technical Officer B in the Pay Level 10 of 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix (Rs.56,100-1,77,500) (Pre-revised PB:3-Rs. 15600-39100 + GP 5400) on regular basis at ICMR-NIRT, Chennai.

The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, an Autonomous Institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, invites applications for the following posts:

2 Technical Officer B (Statistics / Bio-Statistics) 02 Not exceeding 35 years UR-2 1st Class Masters Degree in Statistics/Applied Statistics/ Bio-Statistics from a recognized University (or) Second Class Masters degree in Statistics/ Applied Statistics /Biostatistics with Ph.D. degree (i) 2 years skills and experience in TB research with data analysis techniques and tools such as either one of following software SPSS, STATA and S-Plus in Health Research. (ii) Research experience Required to participate in clinical trials in planning, monitoring, analysing and interpreting trials data and associated lab experiments. Also analyse and interpret large databases
in Statistics / Applied Statistics/ Biostatistics from a recognized University. in Tuberculosis. (iii) Doctorate in Statistics / Biostatistics from a recognized university (iv) Additional Postdoctoral research / teaching experience in Statistics / Biostatistics in recognized institute (s) (v) Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/Data Management. (vi) Two years R & D in health research/Teaching experience in Statistics after obtaining essential qualification. (vii) Knowledge and working experience in GIS (viii) Working experience in server based data management through PDA offline/online data collection. (ix) Work with Statistical / epidemiological packages like SPSS, SAS, STATA and including census, National Sample Surveys. Work with Statistical/ epidemiological packages like SPSS, SAS, STATA and EPIINFO/EPIstat/ Open epi, WinBUGS / OPENBUGS etc. Conduct training programmes / teaching for statisticians and non-statisticians on basic and advanced statistical methods. Provide guidance to colleagues and collaborators on study design, sampling, analysis, interpretation of study findings and write scientific reports. Further he/she will be expected to initiate research studies in the area of Statistics/ Biostatistics/Bioinformatics related to TB and HIV.

Installation and maintenance of all electrical equipment and A/C Deep freezers etc. Keeps scientific equipments operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
6 Technical Officer B (Biochemistry) 01 Not exceeding 35 years UR 1st Class Post Graduate Degree in Biochemistry ( or) 2nd class PG Degree in Biochemistry with Ph.D in Biochemistry from a recognised University. Minimum 2 years experience of working in Biochemistry Laboratory and handling instruments such as Auto analyser, HPLC. To carry out drug assays in tablets To work in the HPLC Lab To raise indents, to maintain stock registers, to follow up indents and AMC of equipments.
7 Technical Officer B (Immunology) 01 Not exceeding 35 years OBC 1st Class Post Graduate Degree in Life Sciences (or) 2nd class PG Degree with Ph.D in Life Sciences from a recognised University. 8. Technical Officer B (Software Developer) 01 Not exceeding 35 years UR 1st class MCA/ M.Sc. (IT)/ M.Sc. (Computer Science) or 2nd class MCA/M.Sc. (IT) / M. Sc. (Computer Science) with Ph.D. in Computer Science/information Technology/Computer Application. (i) Database management in health research. One year experience working in HIV Laboratory. To extend technical support for HIV diagnosis and monitoring related laboratory services. To maintain the quality standards of the laboratory. Other terms and conditions:

  1. The applications should be as per the prescribed format.

  2. Candidates will submit application properly sealed in an envelope through ordinary post duly subscribing the words Application for the post of ____________ on the top of envelope while sending the application form.

  3. Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate applications and application fees.

  4. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of application.

  5. Relaxation of age is admissible as per Govt. of India Rules.

  6. Appointment shall be by competitive written test and Interview.

  7. No TA/DA will be admissible for Competitive written test / Interview. Candidates will make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging.

  8. Appointment will be subject to Medical Fitness and verification of character and antecedents from civil authorities.

  9. Candidates after appointment will be subject to All India service liability.

  10. Benefits of new restructured defined contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECD & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECD & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 1.1.2004.

  11. Date, Time and place of test and interview will be intimated by post separately to the eligible candidates whose application is found in order.

  12. Candidates will forward self-attested copies of certificates in support of age, educational qualification, experience and Caste/community certificate for SC/ST candidates and OBC caste certificate indicating non-creamy layer status for OBC candidates.

  13. Department will not be responsible for any postal delay/wrong delivery.

  14. Incomplete/incorrect/without signature applications will be rejected without any notice.

  15. The recruitment process can be cancelled/suspended/terminated without assigning any reasons. The decision of the Director will be final and no appeal will be entertained.

  16. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate. No enquiry or correspondence will be entertained.

  17. Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt. Departments / Public Sector Undertakings and Govt. funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel. Advance copies of application will be considered subject to the conditions that the original application through proper channel should reach this office before the due date. Application received after the closing date will not be considered.

  18. While applying for the above post, the applicant must ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility and other terms and conditions mentioned as on the specified dates and the particulars furnished are correct in all respects. In case it is detected at any stage of recruitment/selection that the candidate does not fulfil the eligibility norms and/or that he/she has furnished any incorrect / false information or has suppressed any material fact (s), his/her candidature will automatically stand cancelled. If any of the above shortcoming (s) is/are detected even after appointment, his/her services are liable to be terminated without any notice.

  19. The decision of the Director-in-Charge, NIRT will be final in this regard.

  20. The administration reserves the right to rectify any inadvertent error or omission at any stage of the recruitment process.

  21. Merely satisfying the essential required minimum qualification and experience does not entitle an applicant to be called for test/appointment.

  22. The period of experience rendered by a candidate on part time basis, daily wages, visiting / guest faculty will not be counted while calculating the valid experience for short listing the candidates for interview.

  23. The period of experience in a discipline/ area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications prescribed for that Grade.

  24. Persons with disabilities (PwD) fulfilling the eligibility conditions prescribed under GOI instructions are encouraged to apply.

  25. Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the test, the applicants may be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director-in-Charge, NIRT will be final in this regard.

  26. The notified vacancies advertised are tentative. ICMR-NIRT reserves the right to cancel / restrict/ enlarge / modify the requirements advertised, if need so arise without assigning any further notice or assigning any reason thereto.

  27.   28. The candidate has to remit application fee of Rs. 500/-(Rupees Five hundred only) (wherever applicable) through Demand Draft from a nationalized bank in favour of the Director, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis payable at Chennai.

  29. SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Servicemen/Women candidates are exempted from the payment of fees. DDs are payable by all other candidates including ICMR employees.

  30. Applications fees once paid will not be refunded on any circumstances nor can it be held in reserve for any other recruitment or selection process.
