Advt No.10/2017 : Walk-in Interview for the appointment of Grants Manager (Preaward) on Contract Basis on Monday, 27th March 2017

The Bangalore Life Science Cluster, an innovative institutional model for cutting-edge scientific research and technology development in India, invites applications from suitable individuals for the position of Grants Manager (Preaward).

The Bangalore Life Science Cluster comprises of NCBS (www.ncbs.res.in), a premier centre for research and teaching in frontier areas of biology, inStem (http://instem.res.in/), an institute with a research focus on the broad area of stem cell and regenerative and CCAMP (http://www.ccamp.res.in/), created for enabling research and entrepreneurship at the Cluster and beyond. It is envisioned that synergistic associations at the Bangalore Life Science Cluster will have a far greater impact on life sciences research than the sum of individual contributions from each member institution.

The Grants Manager (Preaward) will work within the Research Development Office to manage the complete portfolio of grant submissions and fundraising bids from the NCBS/inStem campus. The activities of the Grants Manager (Preaward) will be central to ensuring smooth implementation of all presubmission processes for the Cluster.

Key duties of the Grants Manager (Preaward) will include:

  • Recruitment and mentoring of staff for presubmissions grant support to the Cluster
  • Development and implementation of processes for streamlined grant submissions for the campus, working across with colleagues in other teams, the management and administration as needed
  • Managing a calendar of deadlines for intramural and extramural funding schemes, as appropriate
  • Policy development relating to presubmissions grant support
  • Oversight of curation of information pertaining to extramural and intramural funding schemes and dissemination via RDO newsletters, websites and others
  • Oversight of grants advice being offered to campus researchers, by all members of the RDO team
  • Oversight of grant submissions and fundraising bids to local and international agencies, by campus researchers, working across with other colleagues in the team as needed
  • Outreach to funding agencies as needed
  • Contribution to communications materials relating to campus funding (in Annual reports, webcontent, news stories etc)
  • Management of institutional registration with funding agencies, as relating to grant funding
  • Organization of a monthly team meeting for the RDO, on specific themes and operational matters
  • Information management of grant submissions data, working with Head, RDO
  • Contributing to other work within the team as needed

Applicants to the role should have:

  • A Phd in Life Sciences
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in grant administration
  • Strong time-management and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Excel and other information management systems
  • The ability to analyze, summarize and communicate information
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
