Advt No.10/2017 : Walk-in Interview for the appointment of Team Administrator on Contract Basis on Monday, 27th March 2017

The Bangalore Life Science Cluster, an innovative institutional model for cutting-edge scientific research and technology development in India, invites applications from suitable individuals for the position of Team Administrator.

The Bangalore Life Science Cluster comprises of NCBS (www.ncbs.res.in), a premier centre for research and teaching in frontier areas of biology, inStem (http://instem.res.in/), an institute with a research focus on the broad area of stem cell and regenerative and CCAMP (http://www.ccamp.res.in/), created for enabling research and entrepreneurship at the Cluster and beyond. It is envisioned that synergistic associations at the Bangalore Life Science Cluster will have a far greater impact on life sciences research than the sum of individual contributions from each member institution.

The Team Administrator will work within the Research Development Office to coordinate a range of team matters, including management of campus grants in conjunction with other colleagues. The activities of the Team Administrator will be central to ensuring smooth administration of campus grants, will help in centralising activities within the office and will facilitate information management for grants.

Key duties of the Team Administrator will include:

  • Managing a reporting calendar for campus grants and working with other colleagues in the team over timely grant reporting to the agencies
  • Facilitating post-award management of grants, including grant activation, reporting, extensions, transfers and closure, working with campus colleagues as needed
  • Managing a system of reminders for grant extensions and closures and following through as needed
  • Electronic and hard-copy archiving of grant-related papers and agreements
  • Scanning, collation, dispatch and tracking of papers relating to grants, as required for the team
  • Administrative follow through for the team as required, including procurement, bill-payment, agreement e-franking, meeting room booking etc
  • Managing grant information systems in conjunction with Head, RDO
  • Contributing to other work within the team as needed

Applicants to the role should have:

  • A background in Life Sciences, trained at least to the Masters level
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in grant administration
  • Strong time-management and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Excel and other information management systems
  • The ability to analyze, summarize and communicate information
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
