For Sr. No. 1 to 7

Assistant Professor (Engineering) (Except Materials & Metallurgical Engg. )

Essential:

i) First class in both Masters Degree and Bachelor Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering (Engg.) & Technology (Tech.).

Desirable:

ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:

1. Teaching, research, industrial and/ or professional experience in a reputed organization.
2. Papers presented at conferences and/or in refereed journals.
3. Candidates with PhD would be considered for higher emoluments.

For Sr. No. 8

Assistant Professor (Materials & Metallurgical Engg.)

Essential:

1. First class in both Master's Degree and Bachelor Degree in Engineering &/ or Technology in the field of Metallurgy / Materials.

Or

2. First class in both Master's Degree and Bachelor Degree Mechanical (Engineering / Technology)/ Production (Engineering/ Technology) followed by Ph.D in materials/ Metallurgy related topic.

Or

3. First class in Bachelor Degree in Mechanical (Engineering/ Technology)/ Production (Engineering / Technology) followed by First class in Master's Degree in Engineering &/ or Technology in Materials / Metallurgy with Ph.D in Materials / Metallurgy related topic.

Or

4. * First class in Master's Degree in Material Science / Chemistry / Physics followed by first class in Master's Degree of Engineering &/ or Technology in Materials / Metallurgy with Ph. D in Materials / Metallurgy related topic.

Essential:

i) A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelors and Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech, and experience of eight years in teaching, research and/or industry at the level of lecturer or equivalent grade excluding period spent on obtaining the research degree.

Desirable:

ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered Desirable:
1. Teaching, research industrial and/or professional experience in a reputed organization.
2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed/obtained books and/or technical reports.
3. Experience of guiding the project work/ dissertation of PG/Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.

For Sr. no. 1 to 8

Professor (Engineering)

Essential:

i) A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelors and Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech. and experience of ten years in teaching, research and /or industry out of which at least five years at the level of Assistant Professor, Reader or equivalent grade.

Desirable:

ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered as desirable:

1. Teaching, research, industrial and /or professional experience in a reputed organization.
2. Published work, such as research papers patents filed/obtained books and /or technical reports.
3. Experience of guiding the project work/dissertation of PG/ Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and/or professional activities.

For Sr. no. 9

Assistant Professor (Management)

Essential:

1. Masters degree with minimum 55% marks in Business Administration/ Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management/ Post Graduate Diploma in Management Administration/ Commerce/ Economics followed by Ph.D./ Fellowship from Indian Institute of Management or equivalent in the relevant area.

OR

2. First class Bachelors degree in Engineering and First class degree in Business Administration/Post Graduate diploma awarded by Indian Institute of Management or its equivalent followed by Ph.D./ Fellowship from Indian Institute of Management or equivalent in the relevant area.

For Sr. no. 10 & 11

Associate Professor - For Applied Sciences (Physics / Mathematics)

Essential:

1. Good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
2. A Masters degree with first class (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
3. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
4. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.

For Sr. no. 10 & 11

Professor - For Applied Sciences (Physics / Mathematics)

Essential:

1. An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned /allied/relevant discipline, first class at master level and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research / policy papers.
2. A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
3. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated teaching learning process.

III Pay Band, Academic Grade Pay and Allowances:

Professor: 37,400-67,000+ AGP 10000

Associate Professor: 37,400-67,000+ AGP 9000

Assistant Professor: 15,600-39,100+ AGP 6000

In addition, the post carry allowances (such as dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance, CCA etc.) as approved by the Chandigarh Administration and the Board of Governors / Board of Management of the institute.

V Other Conditions:

i) The candidate should be a citizen of India.
ii) The maximum age requirement (as on the closing date for applications) is as follows:

Professor: not exceeding 50 years

Associate Professor: not exceeding 45 years

Assistant Professor: not exceeding 37 years

iii) Relaxation in the maximum age requirement, as per Govt. norms, would be available to those applicants who are government servants.
iv) The appointment will be made on regular basis subject to initial probation period of duration one year.
v) The appointment will be subject to the candidate being medically fit.
vi) At present the age of retirement for faculty is 62 years.
vii) There is provision of residential accommodation (regular or transit) in campus subject to availability; otherwise the employees are entitled to draw house rent allowance.
viii) The appointees will be governed by new pension scheme as applicable to the employees appointed after 01.01.2004.
ix) The employees can avail benefit of Leave Travel Concession as per applicable rules.
x) Persons already employed in Government/semi Government organization should route their applications through proper channel. An advance copy may, however, be send in which case a no objection certificate (NOC) from competent authority should be presented at the time of interview.
xi) Persons applying for more than one post should submit a separate application for each post.
xii) Candidates will be shortlisted as per shortlisting criteria. Merely fulfilling minimum qualifications may not automatically entitle a candidate to be called for the interview.
xiii) Guidelines, as approved by the Board of Governors / Board of Management of the institute, with regard to the selection procedure, shall be adhered to.
xiv) Reservation policy of the Government of India will be followed. The OBC certificate, in the prescribed form only, issued by the competent authority declared by the Government of India will be accepted as proof in support of claim as OBC candidate.
xv) Existing norms of the Government of India for age relaxation and other relaxation (if any) in reservation will be followed.
xvi) The posts reserved for visually disabled and hearing disabled persons shall be filled as per the Government of India norms.
