NITM.1/(232-Estt)/PHFI/Bakim/2017(Pf)/1622 Date: 24.04.2018 Walk-in Interview on 10th May, 2018 for JRF (Junior Research Fellow) position Applications are invited from the Indian citizens for filling up the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the PHRI Research Grant sponsored by PHFI with financial support from DST, New Delhi- Govt. of India. The title of the Project is Public Health Care System Facilities and Spatio-Temporal Disease Mapping and Assessment using Geospatial (GIS and GPS) Technology in Manipur, India. The details of the ongoing project are mentioned below:

Public Health Care System Facilities and Spatio-Temporal Disease Mapping and Assessment using Geospatial (GIS and GPS) Technology in Manipur, India.

Essential qualifications:

i) Post-Graduate in Engineering with specialization in Remote Sensing/ Geoinformatics / Public Health Engineering OR ii) M.Sc. degree in Public Health/Geoinformatics/RemoteSensing/Earth Science/ Geology

Desirable Qualifications and Experience requirements:

For MSc degree background candidates, preference will be given to those having NET/GATE qualification (for JRF position) and previous academic and research experience in Remote sensing and GIS data handling and modeling
Working experience in handling geospatial data, image processing/GIS software (ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, QGIS, Geoda, and R) and statistical analysis.
Candidate with a good command over English language and local language (Manipuri) for field engagement/survey work
Applicant should have sound scientific writing skills and publication potential in good journals.
Highly motivated to learn various analytical and statistical analysis of health data in GIS platform

Age Limits:

Not more than 30 years as on the last date of application (SC/ST/OBC/PWD/WOMEN candidates will get relaxation as per Govt. Of India Rules)

Fellowship:

Rs 25,000/- per month (Fixed) with applicable HRA for JRF position. If suitable qualified candidate is not found for JRF position, lower post of Research staff/Technical staff under this project may be recruited by the selection committee and a lower fellowship amount will be decided by the committee.

Tenure of the Employment:

The position is purely temporary and ends along with the project. It doesnt confirm any permanent position at NIT Manipur. Appointment shall be made on contract basis for a period of six months initially, which may be extended further depending on the performance evaluation on six months basis and on the approval of the sanctioning agency PHFI till the end of the project. Since the appointment is for a time bound project, the candidate is essentially required to work for successful execution of the project objectives and completion of the project. If the monthly performance of the candidate is not satisfactory then the PI has the right to terminate the contract.

Mode of Selection: Interested eligible candidates should report at Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, NIT Manipur at 10 A.M. on 10.05.2018. Candidates reaching after 10:30 AM will not be entertained. The interview is scheduled to be start at 11:00 am. Only those whose final results of the essential qualification have been declared as on the date of walk in interview will be eligible. All interested candidates are requested to appear for an interview with the following documents: 1. An application stating your research/career goals 2. The selection committee also reserves right for not selecting any candidate/offering lower post in case candidates are not found suitable for the applied post. 3. NIT Manipur reserves the right to fix suitable criteria for short-listing of eligible candidates satisfying advertised qualification and requirement of the project post. 4. No TA/DA will be provided to the candidates for attending the interview. Calling/Appearing in the interviewing is not a guarantee for selection. 5. The selected candidate can opt for Ph.D. program announced by NIT Manipur (twice a year) in case they are interested in pursuing Ph.D. at NIT Manipur as per rules and regulations of the PhD program at NIT Manipur in the project related work area.
