In Examination Branch-IV the following recruitments are being done

  1. Assistant Conservator of forest in Forest Department

  2. Headmasters/Headmistresses in Government high Schools

I .ASSISTANT CONSERVATOR OF FOREST

  1. This Recruitment is being done as per Karnataka State Forest Department Services(Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules 2002.

    1. Method Recruitment:-

      There shall be a preliminary selection of candidates for undergoing the forestry diploma training course for a period of two years in any Government of India recognised State Forest Service training college in the following manner, subject to the reservation orders of the Government. The candidate must also qualify in physical endurance test and meet the physical standards as specified in column (3)

    2. Preliminary examination

      1. General Kannada - 100 marks

      2. Aptitude Test - 100 marks

    3. Candidates qualifying in the Preliminary Examination, in the ration of 1:10 (Vacancy: qualified candidates) from Preliminary examination based on the merit and reservation policy of the Government shall have to appear for the Main Examination consisting of the following papers namely,

    B.Sc. (Forestry) Graduates.

    1. Kannada 100 marks - Qualifying

    2. English 100 marks - Qualifying

    3. General Knowledge - 100 Marks

    4. Aptitude Test - 100 Marks

    5. Forestry Paper-1 - 100 Marks

    6. Forestry Paper-2 - 100 Marks

    Other than Forestry Graduates

    1. Kannada 100 marks - Qualifying

    2. English 100 marks - Qualifying

    3. General Knowledge - 100 Marks

    4. Aptitude Test - 100 Marks

    5. Any two papers out of the following, 100 marks each.

      1. Botany

      2. Zoology

      3. Mathematics

      4. Chemistry

      5. Physics

      6. Agriculture

      7. Civil Engineering

    The Karnataka Public Service Commission shall prepare two lists of qualified candidates separately for the B.Sc. (Forestry) and Science Graduates other than B.Sc. (Forestry). The ratio of vacancy: qualified candidates shall be 1:3 in the order of merit based on the marks obtained in the written main examination subject to the orders in force relating to reservation of posts under various categories earmarked by the Government in this behalf. if the marks obtained by two or more candidates is equal, the order o merit shall be fixed on the basis of their age, the older in age being placed before the younger. The qualified candidates shall be called for an interview by KPSC separately for B.Sc. (Forestry) and Science Graduates (other than B.Sc Forestry Science Graduates Graduates) and award marks. There shall be 20 marks for the interview.

    Physical endurance and Medical fitness test:- All the candidates who have qualified for the interview shall also be subjected to physical endurance test and Medical Fitness examination before the interview.

    Those candidates who qualify in the physical endurance and medical test will be finally selected based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and interview, separately for B.Sc (Forestry) graduates and Science Graduates other than forestry. if the marks obtained by two or more candidates is equal, the order o merit shall be fixed on the basis of their age, the older in age being placed above the younger. A Final Select list equivalent of the number of notified posts shall be prepared based on the rank obtained in each list, every second vacancy in direct recruitment being filled by Science Graduates other than B.Sc. (Forestry) Graduate.

    The selected candidates will be sent for Diploma Course in Forestry in State Forest Service training college or any other Forest Training College recognised by the Government of India.

    On successful completion of the Diploma Course in Forestry he shall be appointed on probation for 2 years.

    If he fails to complete the Forestry Diploma training course or Probationary period satisfactorily, he shall be discharged from service by recovering the training cost as per the indemnity bond execute by him before deputing him for training.

    1. Qualification:-

      1. For B.Sc. (Forestry) Graduates must be a holder of a degree in Bachelor of Science in Foresty.

      2. for Science Graduates other than B.Sc. (Forestry) Graduates: Must be a holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture of Veterinary Science or Bachelor of Science Degree with two or more of the following subjects namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or a holder of Bachelor of Engineering Degree in any recongnised discipline.

  2. The Minimum marks obtained in these degree courses shall not be less than 50% of the maximum marks.

3) Not with standing anything contained in Rule(6) of the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules 1977, Candidates must have attained the age of 18 years on the date of Notification and must not have attained the age of

  1. 35 years in the case of persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Category-1 of other backwards Classes.

  2. 33 years in the case of person belonging to the category II (a) or II (b) or III(a) or III(b) of other Backward Classes.

  3. 30 years in case or others on the date of notification

provided that in the case of a candidate who is an ex-service man discharged from the service by reason of de-mobilization, retrenchment or retirement, the age limit being relaxed by the number of years of military service rendered by him.

    This Recruitment is being done under Karnataka Education Department Services (Department of Public Instructions) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules 2006 and Karnataka Recruitment of Gazetted Probationers (appointment by competitive examinations) Rules 1997.

    SCHEDULE-II

    SECTION-1

    Scheme of Examination

    The competitive Examinations shall comprise of two stages:-

    1. Preliminary Examination (Objective type)

    2. Main Examination (Descriptive type)

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

The competitive examination shall comprise of two stages:-

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the main examination and

  2. Main Examination (written examination and Personality Test) for selection for candidates for posts.

(A)Preliminary Examination :- The Preliminary Examination shall consist of two papers of objective type multiple choice

  1. Main Examination: The Main Examination shall consist of written examination and personality test.

    Written Examination:

    Paper-I - Kannada - 150 marks

    Paper-II - English - 150 marks Paper III - General Studies - 300 marks Paper IV - Education - 300 marks

    Paper V - Two subjects to be - 300 marks VI, VII, & selected from the list each paper

    VIII of optional subject. Each subject will have two papers.

    Total marks for written Examination - 2100

    Note-I: The marks obtained in compulsory papers i.e. in Kannada and in English shall be of qualifying nature. For qualifying in these papers, a minimum of 30% in each paper and 35% aggregate is prescribed. The marks obtained in these two papers shall not be considered for determining the merit for selection. Candidates who do not secure the prescribed marks in the qualification papers, namely, Kannada and English, shall not be eligible for personality test and selection.

    Note-2: The Examination shall be of conventional type.

    Note-3: The question papers shall be set both in Kannada and in English. A candidate may answer a paper either entirely in Kannada or in English.

    Note-4: The standard of the main examination except Paper-I Kannada and Pare-II English shall be that of Degree level. The standard of paper-I Kannada and paper-II English shall be that of First Language Kannada and First Language English respectively at SSLC level.

  2. Personality Test: The Commission shall call for a personality test, as far as may be, three times the number of candidates as there are vacancies in the services in Group-A and Group-B respectively, of Schedule-I in the order of merit on the basis of the results of the Main Examination, subject to calling candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in the same ratio to the extent vacancies are reserved for them. Personality Test shall carry a maximum of 200 marks. The object of the Personality test is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for the service or services for which he is a candidate. The qualities to be judged at the time of personality test are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, and balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, ability for social cohesion, leadership and intellectual depth of the candidate.
