APPLICATION/NOMINATION FOR THE POST OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, THSTI, FARIDABAD

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology (Government of India) has established the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous institution, as a part of the interdisciplinary Biotech Science Cluster at Faridabad in the National Capital Region. The Institute is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with a mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into tangible products to improve human health.

THSTI has set up niche centres for research in areas relevant to planned translational work. They are: Vaccine and Infectious Disease Research Centre (VIDRC), Paediatric Biology Centre (PBC), Centre for Biodesign (CBD), Drug Discovery Research Centre (DDRC), Centre for Human Microbial Ecology (CHME) and Policy Centre for Biomedical Research (PCBR). Clinical Development Service Agency (CDSA) and the National Biodesign Alliance (NBA) are THSTIs extramural centres.

2. We are looking for leader at the level of Executive Director, THSTI, Faridabad on deputation (including short term contract) from Indian Citizen:

2.1 The position of Executive Director (ED) offers a unique opportunity for the right individual in providing strong and visionary leadership to the institution. He/she will perform duties of the Chief Executive Officer of the Institution and the responsibilities of ED includes leading and nurturing the core multidisciplinary research faculty, developing policies and fostering collaboration with scientific, medical and engineering partner institutions, developing mechanism for collaboration with industry, recruitment of appropriate faculty and management of the extramural activities including supporting research resource units in other institutes.

2.2 The ED of THSTI will report to the Governing Body and will be responsible for implementation of the decisions taken by the Governing Body.

2.3 The selected incumbent will be placed on the apex Scale (Rs. 80,000/fixed) in terms of CCS 6th

(Revised Pay) Rules2006 as per the Pay Commission recommendations with usual allowances as per Central Government Rules. A semifurnished oncampus or leased accommodation will be provided in lieu of HRA and government staff car will be provided in lieu of transport allowance.

In addition to the usual pay & allowances as admissible in the above scale, other benefits such as leave travel concession, medical expenses, telephone expenses, children education allowance, newspaper & magazines allowance etc. are also available as per GOI rules.

  2. Eligibility criteria

3.1 Scientists of the Central Govt./State Govt./Universities/ Public Sector Undertakings/ Govt. funded research organisations/institutes subject to fulfilment of the following conditions :

(i)
Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or
(ii)
With five years regular service in post with Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000/or equivalent in the parent cadre/Department and possess the qualification & experience as given below:

Qualification

(i) Essential: MD or PhD in Life Sciences/Biomedical Sciences/ Biotechnology/Biomedical Engineering / Biotech Pharmacology from a recognised University with minimum 15 years research experience in responsible higher position/ Teaching Institute/University/Industry with published research of highest standards and/or technologies of established utility.

(ii)Desirable: At least two years experience in leadership roles in a reputed academic or research institute or industry in related fields or experience in successfully running large program, centre, or experience of guiding research activities in the area of specialization. Demonstrated ability to create new knowledge in the area of expertise or translate innovations to develop new processes or products and ability to network with national and global institutes and industries.

4 Age limit andtenure of appointment

The applicant should not exceed 56 years of age on last date for the receipt of applications. In exceptional cases, relaxation of age can be allowed at discretion of the competent authority. The appointment will be on contract/deputation basis for a period of five years or till the age of 60, whichever is earlier. The tenure is extendable after review, as per rules of the organisation.
