Description

Applications are invited for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position for a DST/SERB sponsored project on understanding the role of hierarchies on property-performance relations in three dimensional lattice structures (also known as cellular solids).

The candidates will work on building computational models to fabricate cellular solids at different hierarchies that will be used as specimens for experimental studies. He will develop a physics based theoretical framework to estimate effective properties as a function of hierarchy. They are also expected to carry out FE analysis (using ABAQUS) on the computational models to validate the developed theory.

Duration of Position

Initial appointment for one year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance

Required Skills

Candidates are expected to have at least a B.Tech (or equivalent) degree in Mechanical Engineering or allied fields. A higher degree (M.Tech/ PhD), or prior work experience in the area will be preferable. Knowledge of FE analysis and computational programming is extremely desirable. An advanced degree and prior research experience in the area of solid mechanics with some background of conducting experiments would also be a big plus. GATE score is mandatory.
