M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science/IT/Electronics/Electrical Engineering Age : Not more than 40 years as on 15^th December 2016

Desirable: Experience in large-scale computing system administration, e.g. computing cluster and storage management / experience in Linux administration/ Experience in Python programming / Experience in LHC Grid computing. Well versed with C++ programing and Shell script programing.

Job Profile:To set up a Tier-3 grid computing system with 600 CPU cores and ~200 TB of storage. These facility will be used for experimental program in high energy physics of which the school of physical is a part. Set up and manage a proper data centre which houses the computing resources along with cooling, UPS, safety mechanism, alarms, etc. Day to day monitoring of the health of the Tier-3 centre will be the curial activity, which includes installation and maintenance of several monitoring tools like Ganglia, Cluster Command Control, and several other linux power tools for this purpose.In addition, will also be responsible for administration of the multiple high performance computing facilities (HPC) of the school of physical sciences. These facilities include computing clusters of more than 1000 cores amounting to more than 30 TFLOPS. Responsibilities will include management and maintenance of storage and parallel file system, installation and administration of Linux OS, installation, trouble shooting and optimization of software and libraries for scientific computation, implementation and optimization of job scheduling software and network (GE and IB).Will also be responsible for administration of the departmental computer center. School of physical sciences also has a computer center having about 50 PCs and few servers, used for teaching and general computing needs of students.

In addition to the basic salary, NISER staff member are entitled to the allowances as admissible to Central Government Employees. The Performance Related Incentive Scheme (PRIS) of DAE may be applicable to NISER (subject to orders from DAE), under which, there is a provision for monthly incentive of 20% of the basic pay. Scientific Officers are also eligible for DAEs update allowance, depending upon their scale and pay
