Under APHH, a project Process analysis, observations and modelling -Integrated solutions for cleaner air for Delhi (PROMOTE) is implemented at IITM, Pune. PROMOTE brings together a cross-disciplinary team of leading researchers from India and the UK spanning expertise in process-orientated observational and modelling analysis, prediction and forecasting of air quality and meteorology, climate modelling and socioeconomic assessment of mitigation options. Also, a project Quantifying Impacts of South Asian Aerosols on Regional and Arctic Climate (QUISARC) is being implemented in IITM in collaboration with Norway under Indo-Norway bilateral program of MoES. The main objective of QUISARC is to quantify regional and Arctic climate impacts of South Asian aerosol emissions, by updating present emission inventories and tracing the aerosol impacts through teleconnections, and physical and chemical processes. By facilitating collaboration between Indian and Norwegian scientists with expertise in emission inventories, observations and global and regional modelling, QUISARC will seek to reduce these uncertainties to provide improved quantification of the impacts of South Asian emissions on the region itself and on the Arctic.
