To carry out basic and applied scientific research in the Science laboratory, Dehradun, as well as other field laboratories. 4. To exercise overall control of other field laboratories in the ASI. 5. To look after the work of chemical treatment and preservation of paintings, art objects of wood, metal, textile, bones etc. 6. To approve annual programme of chemical treatment preservation of monuments all over the country and ensure its execution. 7. To function as head of the Chemistry Branch and exercise the delegated administrative and financial powers. 8. Presentation of papers in seminar, etc. 9. Providing professional and technical guidance to the Junior scientists in their research work and arranging their trainings in given fields to keep them abrest with the latest scientific developments in the country and abroad. 10. To perform all other duties and functions which may be assigned to him by the Director General. Period of deputation (including short term contract) including the period of deputation (including short term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding the appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government- shall not exceed five years.
